People of Amsterdam | Prim

Meet the People of Amsterdam. Here we will showcase a different Amsterdam native every week. Every Amsterdam native will share a little about their lives during quarantine, sharing their favorite spots, and what makes Amsterdam so special to them. These interviews showcased another perspective that influenced their lifestyles. Read about how each individual continues to work on their work-life balance. Take it all in. After all, the People of Amsterdam know Amsterdam best. This week: Prim Ann Vianelli, Account Manager
@ The Cirqle

Have there been any changes in how you work? How do you cope with those changes?
Yes, there definitely are lots of changes in how I work. All of a sudden we were all sent home and the people I used to see every day, I now only see online. I cope by making sure we still communicate every day and with our communications, we still maintain a level of friendly banters. Oh and we send each other funny work memes!
Could you share with us about your mindset to stay motivated?
I need to go out for a walk! I try to go every day but of course, sometimes the weather here does not permit it. So I do the best I can in making sure I get some fresh air every day.
How do you continue to build relationships with the people you work with?
Luckily we have a small team so we are following each other on social media. We still share memes and joke around on Instagram and in our WhatsApp chats.
Could you tell us about the spot where you and your colleagues love to hangout? Why and do you still go there?
Unfortunately, with the 2nd lockdown, there really isn’t a place where we can go. But our company is doing our best to keep our spirits lifted. Every so often they will send over cocktail sets that we can make at home and we still have our traditional Friday drinks, just over Zoom.

Do you have a goal of how you’ll come out of this Covid-19 situation? Could you tell us about it and how you’re going to achieve it?
I guess you could say that my goal for coming out of this Covid-19 situation is to make sure I come out of it with my mental health still strong. I try my best to have checked in with my boss to discuss my workload and just how I am doing in general.
Is there something or someone that’s helping you to get through the lockdown?
My friends! While I might not get to see them as much, when I do see them on the weekend we go and grab a coffee and go for walk through Vondelpark. That has been the best part of the lockdown.
Have you adopted anything new as a part of your lifestyle? Do you see it continuing even after the pandemic?
Lately, I have been into making big meals. Like the whole dinner set up with lots of different dishes and inviting a friend over to enjoy the not so simple meal I made. I definitely see myself continuing that when the lockdown is lifted.
We all have something we could be proud of. Could you share with us your moment of pride during the lockdown?
Yesterday, I was able to befriend the local Thai restaurant and they gave me their personal number in case I wanted to order something that was not on their menu! YUM!

Have you found a new spot in Amsterdam that you are going to more often? Please tell us where and what do you like about it.
I would not say it is a “new spot” but I am going to Vondelpark almost daily. I really appreciate that place and all the cute dogs that go for a walk there.
What’s by far your favorite place/spot in Amsterdam
Well, right now it would be the Thai restaurant “Muang Thai“. The owners are the nicest people and they are so welcoming. Oh and the food! YUMMY
Restaurants and local stores were closed for a while. Which one are you glad to have reopened and why?
I am glad that we can still get takeaway during this 2nd lockdown. I have to give it to my Muang Thai restaurant!
How are you going to spend your vacation days, now that you can hardly travel anywhere?
During the summer I took a lot of day trips. I went with my friends to Gouda, Utrecht and more.
Are you longing for things to complete return to what it was? Or do you have something you’ve experienced during the lockdown that you wish to have continued?
I think our work team has proven that we can still be as efficient as ever even while working from home. I think I will enjoy not needing to go to the office 5 days a week. A couple of days is nice though but not all 5.
Do you have a tip or advice for the reader to help them get through the pandemic?
It is ok to check in on your mental health. It is also ok to speak up if you feel overwhelmed!
